Family Therapy

Being a parent is the most important role you will ever have. All parents want their children to be happy, healthy, and safe. Yet putting that desire into practice can be challenging at times. Whether your parents were the role models you try to emulate, or you are trying to be the parent you wish you had had, it is often difficult to know the “right” way to handle all the situations that come your way.

  • Are you struggling to balance work and family life?
  • Do you worry about how your fighting with your spouse or the breakup of your marriage is affecting your children?
  • Do you fear how staying in or leaving an abusive relationship will impact your children?
  • Are you struggling with what to do about a family member’s alcohol or drug use?
  • Are you trying to bring families together after remarriage?
  • Do you lie awake at night worrying about what your teenager may be up to?
  • Are you trying to figure out the best way to support your adult child who has moved back home or do you find yourself raising your grandchildren?
  • Are you feeling overwhelmed with caregiving responsibilities for an elderly parent or for a family member with a serious health condition?
  • Has something unusually stressful impacted your family?
  • Do you simply find yourself wondering, “why does it have to be so hard”?

You can read all kinds of books and search endless websites on the subject of effective parenting, but those sources do not know you and they do not know your family. Family counseling can help you become a more confident, effective, and loving parent. It can also help your children to accept their responsibilities as members of your family and recognize their own role in creating a happy, healthy life for themselves. Consider working with a Synergy Center counselor to restore healthy family relationships, improve communication, or recover from a situational crisis.
