One-on-one therapy and medication management have long been the primary approaches to treating most mental health concerns. And while these therapies continue to be very effective, mounting research shows that integrating services focused on the body and social support can significantly enhance their effectiveness in improving wellbeing. We provide you with these complementary services all in one place so you can easily take advantage of the synergy created by a holistic approach to wellbeing.
Yoga, qigong, massage therapy and acupuncture have all been shown to improve mood and decrease anxiety and depression. Research shows that these body-focused practices can boost your mood by lowering stress hormone levels, reducing pain and muscle tension, increasing the production of feel-good chemicals known as endorphins, and bringing more oxygenated blood to your brain. Yoga specifically has been shown to elevate levels of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), which is associated with better mood and decreased anxiety.
Loneliness was on the rise well before the pandemic accelerated the problem. Social connection is one of the most important drivers of health, wellbeing, longevity. Positive relationships reduce anxiety and depression, increase empathy and promote self-esteem and emotional regulation.
Group therapy and support groups facilitated by a Synergy Wellbeing therapist brings together professional mental health guidance and peer support for a variety of issues including anxiety, grief, substance use, anger management as well as wellbeing strategies like mindfulness, gratitude, meditation and sleep hygiene. Participating in these group activities can help you feel less alone and provide professional expertise as an affordable complement or alternative to individual counseling.
